Athens, June 8th 2021 – 1st release of the documentary entitled:

"European Maritime Day in Greece - The Blue Growth Community experience"

The Interreg MED Blue Growth Horizontal Project, through its partner, School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), will participate in the “European Maritime Day in my Country”. NTUA will produce a documentary, by recording the testimonials of the Blue Growth Community’s Greek associated and projects’ partners.

The documentary will be entitled "European Maritime Day in Greece - The Blue Growth Community experience" and will highlight the challenges for the blue economy sector, the achievements of the Community’s pilot projects and the vision of the involved Greek stakeholders for sustainable blue growth in the Mediterranean area.

Key maritime issues, such as the blue economy, marine renewable energy, fisheries & aquaculture, coastal & maritime tourism, sustainable ports, etc., will be addressed from the experience of different territorial actors, showcasing concrete innovative actions and tools, as potential solutions.

The documentary aims to:

  • Increase knowledge among the wide public on the different aspects of the blue economy, emerging technologies and blue business models;
  • Raise ocean literacy, one of the main targets of the EU and foster active and responsible citizenship;
  • Urge young people to develop blue economy skills and provide an insight for career perspectives in the various blue growth sectors;
  • Disseminate the activities and outcomes of the Blue Growth Community’s Projects.
  • Attention will also be given to transnational cooperation and to its contribution to the Blue Transition in the Mediterranean, in line with the Green Deal objectives.

The documentary will be launched on the 8th of June 2021, coinciding with the World Oceans Day, through the communication channels/social media of the Blue Growth Community Interreg MED (BGC’s YouTube account) and of NTUA / School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (Naval NTUA’s YouTube account).
