On the 19th-20th of September in Brussels, the Blue and Green Growthcommunities of Interreg MED’s Axis 1 on Innovation will celebrate their joint final, event aiming to raise awareness on how the integration of both blue and green economies can support a more sustainable development of the Mediterranean. The Communities will also look forward to a better understanding of each other’s results for policy recommendations, sharing their knowledge and good practices as well as networking together.
This event is structured on two days of sessions: the first day, will be devoted to the Blue and Green Communities main policy recommendations and the interaction with policy-makers on the basis of the Communities’ findings and good practices. Among the main axes to be addressed will be sustainability within territorial cooperation, blue and green economies integration, business innovationand access to funding, and education to sustainability. This first day will be closed with a projects pitching session prior to a mixer for participants to reinforce their interactions. In addition, the second day will address the final results of the thematic projects from both communities, allowing to reflect on the transfer of their respective results and their sustainability overtime and the next generation of Interreg Med projects.
The event is a milestone between both communities allowing the possibility of transferring their learnings and exchanging their processes and understandings about sustainable economies, hence opening a window for building together strategies going beyond each community’s scope of applied action.
Besides, this event will constitute the framework to discuss with EU institutions, regional and local authorities, the Academia, sectoral institutions, international organizations, NGOs and the private sector, on future scenarios and actions to foster integrated sustainable growth.
Blue and Green Growth Communities were launched 3 years ago and have become strong and sustainable communities. This event closes their first implementation phase and will serve as a bridge to the following one.
The InnoBlueGrowth project’s main objective is to ensure the communication and capitalisation of the different thematic projects’ outcomes dealing with blue economy issues in the Mediterranean region in order to increase their impact towards common identified targets.
The InnoBlueGrowth Project counts with a €1,47 million funding (of which €1,25M of EU co-funding) in the framework of the transnational cooperation programme Interreg Med.
